Multiple Offenses Start with A Drunk Driving Charge

It is not unusual for police to stop someone on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, but the final result is an arrest on multiple offenses. This is what happened recently when Kentucky State Police stopped a woman on suspicion of drunk driving. The DUI charge was soon joined by endangering the welfare of a minor because of her 16-month-old charge being in the vehicle and other charges related to syringes found the woman is claimed to have had in her possession.

The woman might be facing other penalties as a result of being stopped by the police. According to police, officers noted that the woman’s speech was slurred and that she could not stand up to perform the tasks of a field sobriety test.

The additional consequences faced by the woman may come as a result of her refusal to submit to a blood test to measure her blood alcohol content level. A test refusal could lead to an administrative license revocation or suspense.

Having a child in the vehicle at the time of her arrest could be a factor a judge might take into consideration against her if she is convicted of the DUI charge. The fact that she is facing multiple offenses could also affect the severity of the penalties the woman will face.

A criminal defense attorney might be of assistance to this woman or any Bowling Green resident facing a DUI charge. This is particularly true when police who stop a person for one offense, such as drunk driving, find evidence of other criminal offenses.
